Virginia Tech cheerleading and HighTechs
The Virginia Tech spirit program supports intercollegiateathletics and its members are considered student athletes. To beeligible to join, you must be full-time Tech student and mustmaintain a 2.0 GPA. Fall tryouts are Sept. 14 and Sept. 16 forcheerleading and Sept. 13 for the HighTechs.
What it all means
Intramural sports
These programs allow students, faculty, staff and other membersof the university community to compete in team and individual sportsagainst other Virginia Tech opponents. The purpose of intramurals isto provide exercise, recreation and fun. Some of the intramuralsports offered at Virginia Tech are bowling, chess, darts,dodgeball, flag football, horeshoes, water polo, racquetball, tabletennis and wallyball.
Club sports
These clubs allow students to form a university student lifeprogram and compete in team and individual sports again other campusand city teams. Clubs schedule their own practices, games andtournaments. Unlike the varsity sports programs, club sports do notoffer scholarships to players. Club sports at Virginia Tech includebowling, crew, cricket, cycling, fencing, field hockey, gymnastics,ice hockey rugby and skiing.

The intramural sports orientation at Virginia Tech is set for 6p.m. Aug. 26 in McComas Hall. It will include an overview ofpolicies and procedures and door prizes.
